V-ICT-OR in English

A few years ago, the need for a better cooperation between the ICT-professionals of the local authorities was felt.
On the 19th of December 2001 V-ICT-OR (the Flemish ICT Organization) was founded.

Our five main objectives are:

• to promote and develop the expertise of the ICT-staff and to lift the common knowledge to a higher level
• to organize service and provide protection of interests to all ICT-professionals in the local authorities
• to establish a network, present a forum for exchanging experiences and to create opportunities to meet each other
• to lower the threshold for cooperation and synergy and be the motor pushing the cooperation between the different authority levels
• to be the voice of the ICT-professionals

We get our means out of membership and sponsoring fees.

Membership

Being a member holds several advantages:

• participation in all activities at strongly reduced fees
• training initiatives exclusively reserved for the members and/or offered at strongly reduced prices
• a free periodical
• access to the ‘experience data base’; which colleague has experience with what?
• the knowledge that a strong association is a substantial discussion partner who is able to stand up for the interests of its members in dealing with suppliers, higher authorities,...
• an important network of colleagues available at all times
• access to the private part of the website: the knowledge data base holding valuable 'inside' information

There are three kinds of members:

• Effective members
  Every ICT-professional who is employed by a local authority can be an effective member. The fee is 250 EUR for the first member of a local authority and 25 EUR for every following member of this authority.
• Associated members
  ICT staff employed in a non-profit organization, working for local authorities or ICT-staff of the higher authorities. The fee and the rights are the same as for effective members, but associated members have no vote in the General meeting.
• Supporting members
  Private persons and firms who want to support V-ICT-OR. They have access to our events at member fee. These members pay a fee of 650 EUR.

V-ICT-OR International

On the international level, V-ICT-OR has recently joined LOLA. Initially V-ICT-OR did this to follow what is happening on ICT-level in local authorities in other countries. After the first contacts, it was clear to us that there are several common topics and that further collaboration is useful to all.
